Putin militarizes youth in Russia and on the occupied territories of Ukraine

Vladimir Putin is expanding military-patriotic education programs for young people in Russia and in the occupied territories of Ukraine. This was reported by Ukrainian News, citing the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The other day, the dictator instructed the Russian government to create and develop a network of “military sports camps” to popularize the army among young people, as well as to expand the “Roads of Victory” program, create online platforms for military-patriotic education programs for young people, and put one of the “health camps” into a year-round operation.

The dictator has already used military and sports training camps and youth military-patriotic organizations to militarize Ukrainian youth and “process” them with Russian narratives. He appointed those who fought in Ukraine to public office. And 2025 was declared the “Year of the Defender of the Fatherland” in Russia.

The publication writes that all of this points to Vladimir Putin’s clear goal of promoting the prestige of military service among young people and Russia’s plans for long-term military efforts in Ukraine and the world.
