On Monday, February 3, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi arrived in Ukraine in the evening.
According to Slovo i Dilo, Grossi said that he intends to visit the Kyivska substation. According to the IAEA director general, this is his 11th visit to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, and he will visit the substation, “which is critical to the safety of Ukrainian nuclear power, to assess the damage and help prevent a nuclear accident.” The Director General noted that the vulnerability of the power grid is a growing risk for Zaporizhzhia NPP and all others.
The media outlet reminds us that Rafael Grossi has already emphasized the ongoing problem of power supply to facilities, including Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is located in the occupied territory and has repeatedly been threatened by Russia. At the same time, this poses a huge threat to nuclear safety from Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.
